Strategy #1: Hunt the Spangram First

This is the single most important strategy. The Spangram reveals the puzzle's core theme. Once you find it, half the theme words become obvious.

How to find it:

• Look for words that are 8-12 letters long
• Check if they could span from one edge to the opposite edge
• The Spangram always touches two opposite sides of the grid
• Try common theme- related root words first

Strategy #2: Start at the Edges

Edge letters have fewer neighbors, making them easier to spot in potential words. Since the Spangram must touch the edges, starting your search at the perimeter naturally leads to finding it.

Pro tip: Scan the top and bottom rows first. Many Spangrams run horizontally across the grid.

Strategy #3: Brainstorm Before You Scan

Before looking at the grid, spend 30 seconds thinking about the theme:

• What words are related to this theme?
• Are there synonyms, subcategories, or related concepts?
• Is there a common phrase that summarizes the theme? (That's probably the Spangram!)

Having a mental word list makes scanning the grid much faster.

🔄 Strategy #4: Use Shuffle Strategically

The shuffle button rearranges the grid visually. Use it when:

• You've been staring at the same layout for too long
• You can't find any new words
• You want to confirm a word you spotted from a different angle

🎯 Strategy #5: Rare Letters Are Your Friends

Letters like Q, X, Z, J, and V appear less frequently. When you spot one, it's often part of a theme word. Use them as starting points:

• Q is almost always followed by U
• X often appears at the end of words
• Z is a strong signal for a plural or specific term

💡 Strategy #6: Farm Hints Efficiently

The hint system rewards exploration. Every 3 non-theme words earn you 1 hint. To farm hints:

• Try common prefixes and suffixes: ING, TION, ED, PRE, UN, RE
• Connect short common words (4-5 letters) that you can see easily
• Check common word pairs that might share letters
• Use hints early — they help you find the Spangram, which accelerates everything

📐 Strategy #7: Look for Common Patterns

English has predictable letter patterns. Train your eyes to spot:

• Double letters: LL, SS, TT, EE, OO, PP
• Common endings: ING, TION, ATION, MENT, LY, ED, ER
• Common beginnings: PRE, PRO, CON, COM, DIS, MIS, UN, RE, IN, IM
• Vowel combinations: EA, OU, IE, AI, IO

• Track your completion time
• Note the themes that give you trouble
