About StrandsGame.online
Free word search puzzles, built by a solo developer who loves word games.
Why This Site Exists
I like word games. I played Strands on the NYT site, enjoyed the mechanic, and thought: this format is great, but why is there a paywall for puzzles that were published last week?
So I built this. A free, no-sign-up version of the Strands word search format with unlimited puzzles. Same core mechanic (find theme words in a 6x8 grid, solve the Spangram), but without the daily cap or the subscription fee.
No tracking, no ads that interrupt play, no accounts. Just puzzles.
Who Built It
My name is An You. I am an independent developer and hardware integration engineer who builds web tools and games in my spare time.
Other projects I have built:
- GeoDrawer — Draw country outlines from memory, scored against real borders. 143 countries.
- 38-0-0 Football Draft — Build your dream XI and simulate a full 38-match season. Serie A playable now.
- Brand AI Visibility — Check how your brand appears across 9 AI models including ChatGPT and Perplexity.
You can find my code on GitHub.
The Philosophy
Every project I build follows the same principles:
- No sign-up. If the tool can work without an account, it should.
- No data collection. I do not track users, sell data, or store personal information.
- Works in a browser. No app installation needed. Open the page and use it.
- Free. If hosting costs are low enough, the tool stays free.
